It was 5:40 p.m. Tuesday and Renae Kremer and her boyfriend were at their duplex half a block away from JJ's restaurant.
"I heard the largest explosion I've ever heard I in my life," said Kremer.
She shot video of the scene from her phone.
"People were coming out like zombies - these blank stares and complete shock. To be honest, I've seen some pretty crazy stuff in my field of work, and I started crying and had to pull myself together and help everyone out," said Kremer.
A first responder, she helped victims with lacerations. She and her boyfriend even transported people for further care.
"We took two women in our vehicle and drove up the street to the hospital," Kremer said. "We went in and it was kind of chaos in there."
Kremer knows the hospital well. She works there as a nurse, and she always thought a moment like Tuesday night's would come.
"As a nurse you think about these moments that you have to step into action on the street or in the community and that was definitely one of them," she said.
According to Kremer, everyone that responded to the scene pulled together to help, using supplies from their own homes nearby.
She says she's still coming to grips with the tragic scene.
"It's hard to believe a restaurant my boyfriend and I run past a few times a week is completely leveled."
