The City of Sioux Falls has issued a snow alert. Plowing of emergency roads in Sioux Falls started earlier Friday morning.

Sioux Falls snow plows will continue until all routes are clear. All vehicles parked on Emergency Snow Routes are subject to immediate ticketing and towing. Here is a list of the zones and when they will be plowed:

Zone 3: Plowing in Zone 3 will begin Friday after Emergency Routes were cleared. All streets in Zone 3 will be plowed.

Zone 2: On Friday, plowing of east/west streets starts at 8 pm.

Zone 1: Plowing in Zone 1 starts at 1 am Sunday. Motorists are reminded that vehicles parked in Zone 1 will be subject to ticketing and towing between the hours of 1 am and 6 am.

The City is reminding people that parking is prohibited in the Downtown area from 1 am and 6 am. General snow removal information is available by calling the Snow Alert Hotline at 605.367.8259, on the City's website at www.siouxfalls.org and on cable channel CityLink.

If you are unsure what Snow Zone you are in, or where the zone boundaries are located, we've included a map in this story. You can also learn more about snow removal at http://www.siouxfalls.org/snow.

Property owners are reminded that their sidewalks must be kept clean from snow and ice within 48 hours after the termination of any snowfall or ice accumulation. Sidewalks at intersections or crosswalks shall also be cleared to the street.
