A lot of snow left behind in Vermillion and Friday, thousands spent much of the morning and early afternoon cleaning it up.
"I love the snow," Karl Brewer said.
Karl Brewer and his crew, with Martinson Construction, are clearing snow from the parking lot at the Vermillion Dairy Queen restaurant, along with a number of other businesses, Friday.
"I'm glad we got it. I'm a firefighter and the drought last year was terrible so we need the moisture bad," Brewer said.
And that, he says, makes a great day for business.
"We didn't do much last year. We push snow in the winter and didn't get a whole lot last year, just sat around," Brewer said.
"We get paid by the hour and when it don't snow, we don't work," Brewer said.
Even the owner of Dairy Queen knows having the help is a win-win.
"It's a lot easier. You come in at 10, open at 11. They have it done in a half hour. I don't have to bring my snow blowers from home or do anything. Makes it a lot easier for me," Dennis Whipple said.
Brewer said while there's no real strategy to pushing the snow, the most important thing is pushing it will keep them busy.
"Gives us work, something to do in the winter. Can't pour concrete in the winter," Brewer said.
