South Dakota Attorney General Marty Jackley says the DCI is investigating a shooting involving a Rapid City police officer.
Police responded to calls of Elijah magpie throwing rocks at the Rapid City Public Library last night.
According to police, Magpie stormed toward officers with a large butcher knife.
After a failed taser attempt, Officer Jerry Moore fired four to six shots at the 20-year-old.
Magpie is in critical condition at a Rapid City hospital.
The DCI will issue a report to be reviewed by Jackely to see if Moore's actions were appropriate.
