NSU teams playing a pair of games in their old home

Posted: Updated:

The Northern State Basketball teams are taking a step back in time for games tonight and tomorrow night.

The men's and women's teams will play games tonight and tomorrow at the Aberdeen Civic Arena....a court the Wolves used to call home.

The Barnett Center is hosting the state "B" wrestling tournament starting tonight...and with grapplers on the mats the basketball games had to be moved.

The Northern State Basketball teams have played only a handful of times in the Aberdeen Civic Arena in the last 25 years.

The teams elected to switch gyms to allow the city of Aberdeen to host the state wrestling tournament.

NSU will be leaving the comfort of their Barnett Center home for their final two home games...and will take a step back in time at the Civic Arena.

Though this is crunch time for the wolves basketball programs...Athletic Director Josh Moon says the players are excited for this unique opportunity and says fans should be ready to take a step back in time. "As you can see seats in this facility are from way back, old wooden chairs.  I think people are going to have nostalgia when they come back in here and feel like "I sat in that seat 30 years ago, and this is the first time I saw northern basketball,"...the attendance and how important northern basketball is to this region is something special."

Here is the schedule for the weekend at the Civic Arena...the women tipped off a 6 and men start tonight at 8. Tomorrow the women hit the floors at 5 and men at 7

Some great conference showdowns. Tickets are still available at the door for all games so if you are looking to go a little old school here is your chance.
