After the South Dakota Highway Patrol says four people were killed in a one-vehicle crash along I-90, Saturday night, the following statement was obtained by KSFY News from the Sioux Falls Christian School, Sunday morning:
"It is with deep grief that we share with you the news of a fatal car crash involving a family of our Sioux Falls Christian community.
On Saturday evening, four members of the Vollmer family were taken home to be with the Lord.
School officials say Jim, the father, Julie, the mother as well as their 16-year-old daughter Alyssa, and their son 12-year-old Caleb were all killed in the crash and will be dearly missed by friends and family members.
The Vollmer's oldest child, Brittany, is a sophomore at Northwestern College and was not involved in the accident.
We ask that you earnestly seek God's peace and strength for Brittany, the Vollmer's extended family and friends, and the students and staff at SFC during the coming days and weeks.
There will be a gathering Sunday at the school for middle and high school students and parents. Pastors and counselors will also be available at that time."
The gathering, Sunday, will be held from 1:00 - 3:00 p.m. at Sioux Falls Christian, according to its web site.
