Pope Benedict to allow for quicker election of his replacement

Posted: Updated:

Amid controversy in the Catholic church, Pope Benedict the 16th is changing the rules to help for a smooth transition.

Cardinals can now elect the new pope immediately after his resignation.

Vatican insiders say it's not a moment too soon.

In Los Angeles, Cardinal Roger Mahoney is accused of concealing the crimes of pedophile priests.

Some believe the reason for the Pope's own resignation is because of stories of gay priests and blackmail contained in a confidential dossier.
