One of the state's most successful high school football coaches has decided to step down.
Washington high school head coach Brian Hermanson told his team on Tuesday that he is no longer going to coach.
Since taking over the Warrior program in 2005, Washington had a stretch where they went to six straight state title games. They've won three of the past four 11AA state titles.
Hermanson says he's stepping away so he can watch his son Matt play college football at the University of Montana, where he'll be a junior in the fall.
"There comes a time to just step away, and right now I think this is the best time for everyone involved, both for the program and my family." says Hermanson.
Hermanson will continue to teach and coach track at Washington. And he says when Matt is done playing college football, he'd like to get back into coaching football.
