Update: No one injured in rollover near Luverne; 13 cows dead, 1 missing
According to the Minnesota State Patrol website, the driver of a semi-trailer that rolled over near Luverne had no apparent injury.
Zachary Rozeboom, 23, of Hudson, SD was the driver and Guthrie Claus, 28, of Inwood, IA were not injured in the accident. They were headed eastbound on I-90 Wednesday morning when his vehicle veered off the road, State Patrol says.
Rozeboom and Claus say a vehicle passed them, cutting them off and causing to swerve towards the right ditch where they went down.
Rozeboom's trailer was hauling approximately 89 cattle. Minnesota State Patrol says 13 cattle died in the accident. After the rollover approximately 25 cows were on the loose, but they were later corralled into another trailer.
A van from Sioux Falls was traveling behind the semi hit and struck three cows. That vehicle was disabled and blocked the left lane. The driver of the van was not injured.
An update on the Minnesota State Patrol website shows as of 1:19 pm Wednesday there was one cow still unaccounted for.
Emergency crews at the scene say all cows are accounted for; however ten of the cows died. The other cows were loose for a short while but they were later corralled into another trailer.
KSFY News has a crew at the scene. There is no information about the condition of the driver.
