South Dakota gun rights advocates are hosting a rally at the capitol in Pierre Saturday.
Gun Rights Across America South Dakota and South Dakota Open Carry will be hosting the rally on March 2. The rally, which is open to the public, features several speeches on how gun control equates to more crime.
Among the speakers is Kitty Werthmann, a naturalized US citizen from Austria who lived through the rise of Hitler's Germany. Senator Jeff Monroe, of Pierre, Representative Lance Russell, of Hot Springs, Nancy First with the Rapid City chapter of the Second Amendment Sisters and Paul Lathrop of the Politics and Guns Podcast are also speaking at the rally.
This Saturday's rally is intended to show support for legislative efforts to protect and expand our 2nd Amendment rights. Frank Fiamingo, President of the New Jersey Second Amendment Society, said in a news release that America has never seen an attack on its basic liberties like its experiencing now.
"The rights that we have as citizens of this wonderful nation are being trampled and we demand that it stop," Fiamingo said in the news release.
Fiamingo is expected to appear at the rally via Internet.
