The chilly weather did not stop a group from hitting Phillips Avenue for the 1st annual Sioux Falls Vision Walk.
The walk took place in conjunction with the 6th annual walk in Phoenix, Arizona which drew more than 250 walkers.
This local South Dakota group is supporting Team Ashley, or Ashley Hauger, who is in Arizona fighting a retinal disease.
The Sioux Falls event started off with just a few of Ashley's close friends, but grew to 41 Saturday which is more than they expected.
"We wanted to be part of the Arizona walk but timing, and other things, it wasn't possible for the trip. We're walking in Sioux Falls. We're an extension of the walk going on," Gina Hoffmann said.
"Bringing awareness to it. She deals with complications every day as far as losing sight. It's to raise awareness," Adam Rinder said.
Private donations for Team Ashley totaled $17,000. Each of those dollars heads right to the foundation fighting blindness.
