We did some driving overnight to check out current road conditions. Main Sioux Falls roads seem to be in fairly good shape although there will likely be the occasional slick spot. We spoke with the Sioux Falls Street Department. They've had sanders out on the road over night. They only have a few out currently. At 8:00am a new crew will come in and head back out to keep the roads as dry as possible.
We drove on I-29 North this morning between Brookings and Sioux Falls. Blowing snow was cutting down visibility sightly in places. We also checked out I-90 East in Sioux Falls. Snow was also blowing there around 3:30 this morning. Visibility was not terrible on either stretch but we did need to slow down at times.
Currently conditions look the worst north of Watertown and then East into Minnesota. Snow seems to be blowing around a lot worse in those areas cutting down visibility significantly.
No matter where you are heading Tuesday morning keep in mind some of this snow could freeze to the road creating some slick spots. Give yourself some extra time to get out the door.
