Farmers donate eggs to Feeding South Dakota

Posted: Updated:

If a baker's dozen is 13, what would you call a pallet of eggs?

Tuesday, Sioux county Egg Farms, E&W Poultry Farms and Dakota Layers donated several pallets of eggs to feeding South Dakota.

Each pallet carries a little more than 10,000 eggs, which Feeding South Dakota says will help feed 1,000 families.

Dakota Layers Chief Operating Officer Dennis Wiese says they donate because it's what farmers believe in.

"But at the same time I think it's important to realize that farmers today can give back, and I think that it's a responsibility not only as egg farmers but farmers in general to be more generous with what they have today and how they can support those most in need," Wiese said.
