Seven years of U.N. sanctions against North Korea have done nothing to derail Pyongyang's drive for a nuclear weapon capable of hitting the United States. They may have even bolstered the Kim family by giving their propaganda maestros ammunition to whip up anti-U.S. sentiment and direct attention away from government failures.
2. No date for Conclave as last Cardinal arrives
The last cardinal to participate in the conclave to elect the next pope arrived in Rome Thursday. One U.S. Cardinal said a start date for the election is expected soon.

4. Coroner: Lion killed woman after escaping cage
The investigation into a lion attack that killed a 24-year-old woman who loved big cats is focusing on a cage door that the 550-pound animal managed to escape through to reach the volunteer intern, officials say.
5. Jordan applies for marriage license
Basketball icon Michael Jordan showed up at the Palm Beach County courthouse on Thursday to apply for a marriage license. Jordan is marrying Cuban-American model Yvette Prieto, to whom he got engaged in December 2011.
