Sioux Falls Arena and Convention Center General Manager Terry Torkilbson says so far on Friday 1,700 tickets were sold for the 2014 Summit League Tournament. As of 1:40pm Friday, the line had gone away but Torkilbson says people were still coming to purchase tickets to the 2014 tourney.
Torkilbson says they will still be selling tickets and tickets are still available online.
2014 Summit League Tournament tickets went on sale Friday at the Sioux Falls Arena and Convention Center. Fans, mainly dressed in blue and gold, lined up early for their tickets and some even arrived before dawn.
Ellen Brown, of Brookings, says it is well worth the wait for Summit League tickets. Brown says it's something they do every year.
"And if it means standing in line then I will do that," Brown said.
Brown said she is thankful she got her tickets to the 2013 tournament last year, because she says there are many people scrambling to buy tickets now.
"That's going to feel great when you know you've got your seats already in hand and you don't have to come here and scrounge for them," Brown said.
Summit League officials say last year's attendance set a record as 40,290 attended the tournament. By Thursday, March 8, 2012 30,000 tickets to the 2013 Summit League Tournament were sold, leading to anticipation of an even bigger crowd. And, with dedicated Jacks fans like Ellen Brown that a new record could happen.
"It's very important to us. We've followed the Jackrabbits for year and years and years. So this was important for us to get our tickets, because I'm sure there's going to be a lot of people that wished they had," Brown said.
