ST. PAUL, Minn. (AP) - The company that makes TurboTax and other popular tax software says the problems identified by Minnesota officials are confined just to Minnesota.
Intuit spokeswoman Julie Miller says the problems affect a part of the 2012 Minnesota income tax returns where taxpayers decide whether to donate $5 to a political party. She says the problems can cause taxpayers' intentions to be miscommunicated to the state.
Minnesota Revenue officials on Friday warned taxpayers not to use TurboTax and other Intuit tax software, and that the problems could delay refunds or make them inaccurate.
But Miller says this does not affect anyone's refund amounts or the taxes they owe. She says people who've already filed have been notified.
She says software updates have already been pushed out to try to fix the problem.
