Hanson, Severyn Lead Pierre to State

Posted: Updated:

Pierre seniors Lane Severyn and Zach Hanson have been starting on the Pierre varsity for four years.  It didn't get out to a great start.

"Lane and Zach, we had to throw those two in there as freshman, and we went 2-20, so they learned you had to work hard to get to where they're at." says head coach Terry Becker.

The two went on to become the top two scorers in Pierre High School history, and Division I recruits.  Llne is going to SDSU, while Zach is going to Creighton.

"It's great playing with Lane, we compliment each other, he's always able to find me when I'm open." says Zach Hanson

"We do compliment each other well, we always know where the other is on the court." says Lane Severyn.

The goal now is lead Pierre to their first state title since 1982.  After a slow start to the season, things are clicking, and they've gotten some help.

"To do that you have to get good play from the other players, and other people have done that." says Becker.

"It's been a dream for us for a long time to win a state title." says Hanson

"If we were to win a state title, it would mean the world to me." says Severyn.
