Jacks draw Michigan in the NCAA Tournament

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. - The South Dakota State men's basketball team learned on Sunday that the Jackrabbits would face Michigan when they return to the NCAA Tournament for a second straight season.

The No. 13 seed Jackrabbits and No. 4 seed Wolverines square off in the second round of the tournament at the Palace of Auburn Hills in Auburn Hills, Mich., on Thursday at an as of yet undetermined time.

The South Dakota State-Michigan winner advances to the third round to face the winner of No. 5 seed VCU and No. 12 seed Akron on Saturday, March 23, for a spot in the South Region semifinals in Arlington, Texas, at Cowboys Stadium.

South Dakota State enters its 26th NCAA Tournament in school history, the second at the Division I level and second in as many years, with a 25-9 overall record. The Wolverines enter their 24th NCAA Tournament with a 26-7 record after earning an at-large bid out of the Big Ten. 

Ranked sixth in the latest AP Poll and eighth in the most recent USA Today Coaches Poll, Michigan leads the all-time series with South Dakota State 2-0, with the first win being a 95-53 contest on Dec. 11, 1957, followed by a 104-66 Michigan win on Dec. 3, 1989. SDSU and Michigan played both games in Ann Arbor, Mich.
