Many parts of eastern South Dakota will be slick and icy for the Monday morning commute. For some areas blowing snow may also be an issue as well.
Overnight Sioux Falls roads became very wet. With the dropping temperature that means some roads may be slick. You'll want to give yourself some extra time and some extra space between you and the car in front of you. We did speak with the Sioux Falls Street Department. Starting at Midnight, 42 people in 42 sanders hit the road. They hit emergency routes, secondary routes, and around schools. As of 2:00am those crews were monitoring the roads. If they start to get icy they will start sanding again.
As of 7:30 Monday morning, Safe Travel USA says no travel is advised on I-29 from Brookings to North of Watertown. No travel is advised on Highways 212 and 81 near Watertown and Highway 14 between Brookings and Watertown.
A Blizzard Warning has been issued for late Sunday through Monday evening. It includes Aberdeen, Watertown, Redfield, Sisseton, Brookings and Milbank. A Winter Weather Advisory goes in effect Sunday evening through Monday evening. It includes Sioux Falls, Orange CIty, and Worthington.
