The average price per gallon of gasoline across the nation is 15 cents less than the average price one year ago, but it's still only a one cent drop from the same day last month.
The national average price per gallon of gasoline is $3.69. Until Tuesday, the average had fallen five consecutive days. It had also dropped 17 of 19 days since the peak 2013 price of $3.79 on February 27.
According to AAA, gas prices declined during the second half of February. The recent positive economic news helped West Texas Intermediate crude oil prices post slight gains in recent weeks. Those gains continued through Monday, despite traders keeping wary eye on fresh signs of economic instability in the eurozone, according to AAA.
In South Dakota the average price per gallon of gasoline is $3.60. 21 states have a lower pump price than South Dakota, with Wyoming as the bargain of nation at $3.31. California pumps the most expensive gas with an average of $4.115 per gallon.
Citywide average pump prices in South Dakota are lowest in Murdo at $2.216 per gallon and 68 cents more expensive in Timber Lake, $3.899.
