A South Dakota State Prison inmate who failed to return from work release is back in custody in Rapid City.
South Dakota Department of Corrections issued a news release Wednesday stating Cody Summerside is back in custody. Summerside was initially sentenced to four years in prison for possession of a controlled substance out of Meade County.
On March 8, Summerside left the Rapid City Minimum Unit to search for a work release job, but he failed to return to the prison unit at the designated time.
Summerside is currently being held in the Pennington County Jail.
