Pavilion Spotlight: 10th annual Ag Day

Posted: Updated:

Bees provide honey and wax, and they help pollinate alfalfa and sunflowers. This is the sort of information you and your kids can learn this Saturday at the Washington Pavilion's Ag Day.

"The reason why we do Ag Day is to educate kids that their meals don't just come from the grocery store," said Kaia Mogen, the Pavilion's Special Projects Coordinator. "They have to start somewhere. The importance of a farmer and a rancher and that whole industry especially in South Dakota and the Midwest."

Ag Day is from 10am-2pm Saturday and it's free. Courtesy of some sponsors, a lunch full of South Dakota products is free too.

"We're going to have beef, pork, my favorite SDSU ice cream, Dakota Style chips, carrots, and Land O' Lakes milk," said Mogen.

After filling your stomach with yummy local food, you can continue to check out the 40-plus exhibitors, including the beef council, the soybean council, and the Department of Agriculture.
