SIOUX FALLS – Sioux Falls Sports LLC, the ownership group of the Sioux Falls Pheasants and Sioux Falls Stampede, made several major announcements concerning the Sioux Falls Pheasants baseball club on Tuesday.
The organization announced they have officially changed the name of the franchise from the Sioux Falls Fighting Pheasants back to the original name, "Sioux Falls Canaries." The club unveiled the team logos for the Canaries, designed by Fresh Produce of Sioux Falls.
"Since our ownership group purchased the franchise last May, we have been watching closely and listening to our fans and it became very apparent that the community of Sioux Falls missed the Canaries," said Canaries CEO/President Tom Garrity. "We are excited to bring the Canaries name and tradition of the club back to the fans of Sioux Falls. After a successful season last year that saw tremendous corporate sponsorship support and attendance rise by 72 percent, we are very eager to get this season started and build off what we started last year."
The Canaries also announced promotional nights, daily ballpark specials and new ticket options for the upcoming 2013 season which begins on May 16 with the home opener set for Friday, May 17 at 7:05 p.m. vs. the Sioux City Explorers.
No matter a fan's budget or schedule, the Canaries have the perfect ticket package. Season tickets for all 50 home games start as low as $250. All season ticket holders become members of the Canaries "Mug Club" which allows them to get 16-ounce beers or sodas for just $2 all game, every game!
New this year is the Weekender, a plan that gives fans the same seat for every Friday and Saturday game for just $192 per seat! Weekender plan members also receive membership into the Mug Club.
Fans who are looking to choose their own games can take advantage of the E-Z Game Ticket books which are just $99 and come with 10 ticket vouchers good for the best available seat and for any game. The Canaries are also bringing back 10, 20 and 30-game Perch Packs which give you the same seat to every game.
"Our number one goal is to provide affordable, fun, family entertainment every night at the Birdcage," said Garrity. "We want the ballpark the place to be in Sioux Falls this summer. No matter if you're a diehard baseball fan or just looking for something fun to do on a beautiful Sioux Falls night, you will be entertained."
The Canaries also released their promotional schedule for the upcoming season which includes a "Birds are Back" t-shirt giveaway to the first 500 fans on May 18, a Canaries baseball bat giveaway, compliments of Schoeneman's Lumber, a limited edition Canaries Lunch Box giveaway, a Coleman Heating Baseball Glove giveaway and more!
Some old time traditions like the "Little Birds" youth dance team and the YMCA dance will return to the Birdcage as well as the brand new Canaries Dance Team!
Single game tickets are on sale now through the Canaries Box Office and any Ticketmaster location. Fans can get more information by calling 336-6060 or visiting the all new www.sfcanaries.com.
