The Sioux Falls Stampede clinched their eighth playoff berth in nine years with an exciting 2-1 victory over the Tri-City Storm March 20th at home. This weekend March 29th & 30th, the herd look to clinch 1st in the west. Goalie Charlie Lindgren set a franchise record for wins in a season on March 22. Nancy Naeve Brown met up with Charlie and some of the boys a couple of weeks ago at the Sioux Falls Ice and Rec Center before he made it into the record books.
Nancy says, "I'm with Charlie Lindgren the Sioux Falls Stampede Goalie who has had a phenomenal year. How is it going? What's the hardest part about your job and I know it's hard."
"I think it is the most difficult position in sports. Our team is doing great. We've had a heck of a season so far, "Charlie said.
"Is there some secret to how you keep the puck out of the net?" Nancy asked.
"I don't know. I'm a really competitive kid. Growing up I always wanted to win everything I've done and it's been working so far, "Charlie said.
"Are you so excited heading into playoffs?" Nancy asked.
"Yeah. We wanted to peak at the end of the season so we'd have a lot of momentum going in to playoffs," Charlie said.
"What hurts on your body after a game?" Nancy asked.
"I'm sore all over but my lower back is probably the most sore," Charlie said.
"What do you want to do when you are done with the stampede?" Nancy asked.
"I'm going to St. Cloud next year and will play hockey and hopefully win a championship, that would be awesome. I want to play hockey as long as I can," Charlie said.
"As good as you are Charlie I suspect you will. Good luck with your upcoming games, "Nancy said.
Charlie enters the weekend with a league high 33 wins on the year. The Stampede takes on Omaha on Friday March 29th and Lincoln on Saturday March 20th. Puck drops at the arena 7:05 both nights. Saturday fans can bring skates and skate with players' right after the game.
