Emerson Park in Sioux Falls was packed with families in search of eggs and candy and bounce house fun all morning.
It was the first year the Red Door Church put on the event.
Organizers planned for about 300 people to attend the event, but the event far surpassed that.
"I think we're probably pushing the thousand mark, we ran out of eggs, had to go get about a thousand more and it's just been a great afternoon, great weather and lots of kids and lots of families have had a lot of fun here this morning," Zach Bauer said, Pastor Red Door Church.
People who live in the Touchmark Senior Living community also held an Easter egg hunt today with eggs dyed by some of its residents and others filled with lots of candy.
The hunt was held right out of Touchmark's front doors so grandparents and great-grandparents had a chance to see their little ones in action.
"Oh, we just love it, I've never seen them with their egg hunt before and I'm really glad to be here watching them," Hazel Engle said.
