Helicopter drops eggs for kids in Flandreau, Saturday

Posted: Updated:

As millions of church-goers around the world prepare for the Easter holiday, thousands at home kicked off their celebrations, Saturday morning.

It was a scene we don't see too often: an Easter egg hunt where the eggs come from a helicopter!

Out in the communities of Flandreau and Colman, Saturday morning, the Rescue Church held the 2nd Annual Easter Egg Drop for kids and families.

Organizers say it was a unique way to engage people in the church and a fun celebration for the Easter holiday weekend.

"It's awesome to see so many people come out and so many eggs, everyone got a ton of eggs. To drop them from a helicopter is really neat," Kelly Fox said.

"We think it's important to do things for the community, it's a fun way to reach the kids and get to know kids we don't know," Rescue Church Pastor Sam Pickard said.

Organizers hope everyone will join them Sunday for Easter services and fun. They're already planning to make the 3rd Annual Egg Drop even bigger and better, in 2014.
