Ryan Lappegard is in custody tonight after a meth bust in Union County. He is being held on 2 counts of manufacturing meth and 2 counts of possession of a controlled substance. It happened in Alcester after police received a tip about drug activity in a home on Dakota Street.
Alcester Police Chief James Morey says his department, along with the Union County Sheriff and DCI served a search warrant at a home last night. During the search, officers found items consistent with the manufacturing of an illegal drug.
When KSFY NEWS asked exactly what was found, this is what the Chief had to say-"At this time I'm going to decline answering that, because as you can imagine, there's a process that has to be done to confirm what we think we found is what we found."
The homeowner is not under suspicion in this investigation. The next step will be to send the evidence seized in the search to a crime lab for analysis. Only when those result come in would formal charges be filed.
Chief Morey says this is just the third drug bust he can remember in Alcester in nearly two decades on the job.
