Man in custody after two-hour standoff, Saturday

A standoff in Sioux Falls has ended peacefully and one man is in police custody, Saturday afternoon.

Sioux Falls Police say the standoff happened at the IU General Store at Cliff Avenue and 3rd Street, just after 1:00 p.m., Saturday. The original call was for a man with a gun. Once officers arrived, they say, they found the suspect inside with a hand gun.

He refused to comply with the officer's commands to drop the weapon and surrender. Police response teams were called to the scene and the suspect was taken into custody by SWAT officers just after 3:00 p.m.

The suspect is Martine Luiz Moreno, who turns 21 Saturday. Moreno is in custody at the Minnehaha County Jail. He is facing charges of 1st Degree Robbery, Aggravated Assault and Interference with Emergency Communications.

At this time, only one arrest from the robbery has been made.

Police are still investigating.
