Benefit held for family after home destroyed by fire

Posted: Updated:

A Valley Springs family who lost their home last month is getting help and support from the community as they get back on their feet.

The devastating fire happened March 9th, when the Boheman family - Chad, Pam, Jacob and Tasha - managed to get out of the home safely but had to leave behind everything they had.

A benefit was held at the VFW in Brandon with a barbeque, silent auction, raffle and a live band.

The goal for the benefit is to help the family start recovering some of the possessions they lost.

"Lots of friends and family have shown up. We really appreciate it. People that didn't even know them. It's a community outreach we really appreciate," John Boheman said.

The family is living in a camper until they re-build a new home on the same property in Valley Springs.

Next Saturday at the East Side Lutheran Church in Sioux Falls, a soup and pie bake sale will raise more money for the family.

There is also a fund set up at the Sioux Falls Federal Credit Union.
