Three people living in Elkton were arrested after police seized drugs and guns from their home Tuesday morning.

John Otten, 21, was stopped leaving his home at 6:47 am Tuesday. He was arrested and taken into custody on a warrant for Distribution of Marijuana and Violation of Drug Free Zones. The warrant was issued from an ongoing investigation through the Brookings County Sheriff's Department.

Members of the Brookings county Sheriff's Office Special Response Team and members of the Brookings Police Department Special Response Team conducted a high risk entry at Otten's home.

The high risk entry was to secure the home to initiate the search warrant, according to a news release from the Brookings County Sheriff's Office.

Inside the home, law enforcement found two semi automatic handguns, two shotguns and a .22 rifle. The sheriff's office says some of the guns were loaded. Those firearms, numerous narcotic related items and paraphernalia were seized during the search.

Otten was out on bond since December for aggravated assault charges in Brookings. He is now being held at the Brookings County Sheriff's Office on $20,000 cash bond.

A 21-year-old woman and a 24-year-old man, both residents of the home, were inside during the entry and execution of the search warrant. Charges are pending on the 24-year-old for Felon in Possession of a Firearm and narcotics offenses. Charges are pending on the 21-year-old for narcotics offenses.
