Witnesses of the fertilizer plant explosion in West, Texas are sharing their stories as crews frantically search for missing people and rescue workers.
"It was like a bomb. It like, picked you up. It just took your breath away. And then it dropped you and it exploded everything around you," one West, TX mom said. "Gust of wind, it was like a suction and then it just blew it all out. You could feel everything. You could feel it on your skin, your hair was being blown. It was crazy. We were close enough, basically to just cover the kids, as it picked you up and dropped you. It blew the kids on the ground. We were able to cover one and then I grabbed my little one and dove through a door. It was chaos. All my windows blew out, my doors off the hinges. All I had were my keys in my hand and I just threw the dog, everybody in the car and we took off."
Chrystal Anthony, of West, TX, said "It was on fire. All of a sudden it just exploded. It blew everything within 60 feet back."
Texas Gov. Rick Perry is calling the deadly fertilizer plant explosion in his state "a truly nightmare scenario."
Authorities have said as many as 15 people are feared dead and more than 160 others were injured in the explosion that leveled homes and businesses in the farming community of West, Texas.
Perry emphasized during a Thursday morning news conference that much of the information about victims still is "very preliminary."
