Tonight's Touchstone Energy Scholar of the Week is Morgan Larson, a senior at Woonsocket High School.
Morgan has a 3.98 grade point average and her teachers say she proves every day that she is not afraid of doing hard work.
Morgan Larson has a busy life and a busy class schedule and she says both are getting her ready for what's to come in the Fall and beyond. "I'm taking English, I'm taking a world of work where I'm helping with PE classes, I'm taking Government this semester."
Also in her class schedule: Journalism, Calculus and Chemistry. It's that Chemistry class which will really prove to be useful in the not too distance future. "Looking toward the future, chemistry would be most of that because I want to go into Nursing."
And that future will test Morgan's resolve in terms of working under stress and pressure. But one her teachers says Morgan has also proven she will rise to that challenge. Craig Lieber teaches English at Woonsocket. "Not only does she do well she is always pushing herself even more and more each time...whether its a writing assignment...if I asked the class to do 2 pages.....3 pages.....4 pages...I'm going to get 2-3 times that."
Morgan seemingly moves from one tough task to the next and is very straightforward about what's to come in about 5 months from now. "I'm going to go to SDSU for nursing. That's the plan."
For being named our Scholar of the Week, Morgan will receive a $100 scholarship from Central Electric Cooperative, which is a local Touchstone Energy Cooperative.
