Lincoln High School Senior Running for International DECA President

Posted: Updated:

Sioux Falls, SD – A Lincoln High School senior is running to become the next International President of DECA, an association of business and marketing students. DECA provides programs that integrate into classroom instruction, apply learning, connect to business and promote competition. Carter has been a DECA member for four years and the State President of South Dakota DECA for three years. Carter will campaign at the International Career Development Conference this week in Anaheim, California.  The conference will host 15,000 participants from across the world.

For the past few months, Carter has been working with local businesses to gain support for his campaign. He will interview in front of an election committee, give a speech to over 500 individuals, and be interviewed by over 50 associations and over 400 voting delegates. There will also be booths on display at an exhibit hall of those vying for this position.

Carter is the first student from South Dakota to run for an International DECA office in the organization's more than 60 year history. If he wins, he will defer his first year of college to serve the organization. The International Career Development Conference takes place April 24th through April 27th.
