HURON, S.D. – The South Dakota Department of Transportation advises motorists that a three-mile stretch of Highway 28 in Beadle County will be closed to traffic beginning Monday, April 29, and an additional 12 miles will be closed on May 13.

The contractor, Graves Construction of Spencer, Iowa, will replace three box culverts and the Highway 28 bridge over the James River.

The first section of Highway 28 to be closed on April 29 is from the junction of Highway 37 west for three miles to replace one box culvert and the bridge.

The second section of Highway 28 to be closed on May 13 is from the junction of Highway 37 east for 12 miles to replace two box culverts.

The entire 15-mile length will remain closed until Nov. 1, and motorists will need to find alternate routes.
