Local farm bureaus make donation to Humane Society

Posted: Updated:

Huron, SD (April 26, 2013) – Farmers and ranchers who belong to the Minnehaha and Lincoln County Farm Bureau organizations made a donation of cat and dog food today in response to the Sioux Falls Area Humane Society's shortage announced on Wednesday. The Sioux Falls Sam's Club partnered with the local Farm Bureaus to make the donation possible.

"As farmers and ranchers, we are used to working with large animals. But large or small, all animals are important, and we are glad we could help out the Sioux Falls Area Humane Society with this donation of food," said Virgil Meyer from Minnehaha County Farm Bureau.

The Minnehaha County Farm Bureau and the Lincoln County Farm Bureau each donated 900 pounds of feed toward the pet food.

The South Dakota Farm Bureau is a grassroots organization with more than 13,000 farm, ranch and rural families in its membership. SDFB works hard every day to represent, uphold and improve the state's number one industry – agriculture. Learn more by following the link provided.
