Taking a plunge to raise some funds

Posted: Updated:

Would you plunge into a pool of cold water for a good cause? One group did and even though it was the warmest day yet, bags of ice made sure it was still ice cold.

The annual Polar Plunge was held at the Canaries Baseball Stadium all to benefit the Special Olympics.

231 brave souls, decked out in their clever costumes, jumped into the icy water for the good cause.

"It's the first time out at the Canaries Stadium, we think it's a great place to have a polar plunge. Our numbers have boosted, we hope to have more next year, it's a great time," Special Olympics South Dakota CEO Darryl Nordquist said.

It was their biggest polar plunge yet raising more than 80,000 dollars for the Special Olympics of South Dakota.
