South Dakota Regents CEO turns down similar job in Conn.

PIERRE, S.D. (AP) - The head of South Dakota's public university system says he has turned down a similar job in Connecticut.

South Dakota Board of Regents CEO Jack Warner says he wants to stay in the state for numerous reasons, including strong university presidents and support from state policymakers.

Warner was offered the job of president of Connecticut's Board of Regents and even met with the state's governor to discuss the job before turning it down.

Warner considered the Connecticut job because it would have taken him closer to family members.
