Sioux Falls is setting records with another late spring blast of snow.

1.5 inches of snow were recorded in Sioux Falls Wednesday morning, making it the third snowiest May in Sioux Falls' history.

The last time there was measurable snow in May in Sioux Falls was 1976.

The latest traces of snow in a year in Sioux Falls happened on May 31, 1954, officially. The latest 2-inch snowfall to happen in Sioux Falls came on May 12, 1943.

Other areas were also hit by the late spring snow. One viewer from Beresford submitted a photo to KSFY News showing almost 4 inches of snow had accumulated in that area.

The snowy weather is heading east Wednesday and is expected to build as it reaches the Twin Cities. Parts of Minnesota are in a Winter Storm Warning with the Minneapolis area expected to receive 3 to 7 inches of snowfall.
