The Buzz: Wednesday, May 1

Here's a look at The Buzz in show business for Wednesday, May 1:

Leonardo DiCaprio is revealing why he wanted to play F. Scott Fitzgerald's iconic character in the anticipated big-screen spin on The Great Gastsby.

"I really picked up on the tragedy of Jay Gatsby. He's searching for identity, and he's not in touch with reality whatsoever," DiCaprio said. "So, that's the Jay Gatsby that fascinated me and the one that made me want to play him up on screen."

Also, Pierce Brosnan is confessing how closely he identified with the character in his latest film. The actor plays a widowed father in Love is All You Need and opened up about drawing on his life experiences. Brosnan's first wife died of cancer in 1991.

"I was acutely aware of the similarities in my life to this character, as a man who has lost a wife to ovarian cancer, and to go through the trials and tribulations of that loss, searching for the holy grail for a cure, and then to be a widower, to be a single parent," Brosnan said. "There were many emblems within this story that I could easily identify with, so in some respects no acting required."

"Modern Family's" Jesse Tyler Ferguson confessed a big dream at Broadway's big day Tuesday. After working with Sutton Foster at the 2013 Tony nominations announcement, Ferguson says he would love a chance to team up with Foster sometime soon.
