Sioux Falls man charged with raping an 8-year-old girl
A Sioux Falls man has been indicted on charges of repeatedly raping and molesting his ex-girlfriend's 8-year-old daughter.
On Wednesday, Christopher Powell, 35, of Sioux Fall was indicted on two counts of first degree rape of a victim less than 13 years old, two counts of sexual contact with a child under 16 and one misdemeanor of distributing harmful material to minors—pornography.
The alleged incidents happened between 2011 and 2013 when the victim's mother was dating Powell. Powell used to give the victim a ride from school.
Powell is accused of repeatedly raping and molesting the 8-year-old in either the victim's home or Powell's car, according to court documents. He is also accused of recording a video with his cell phone of one of the alleged incidents and showing it to the victim.
Powell was arrested last month. He is being held on $500,000 bond.
