Construction beginning on Black Hills water park

CITY, S.D. (AP) - Construction is beginning in Rapid City on what will be South Dakota's largest water park.

KOTA television reports that Rippin Rapids Resort and Adventure Sports will house 77,000 square feet of water slides, tube rides, a wave machine for surfing and even a zip line.

Monte Hartl with Capitol Management says materials for the six-story building at Lacrosse Street and Mall Drive are arriving, and construction on the complex will begin shortly.

It's slated to open May first of next year.

The multi-million-dollar resort will also have several retail spaces available for rent.

Hartl says the resort will promote other Black Hills Attractions such as Sylvan Lake, Devils Tower and the national parks.
