(Sioux Falls, S.D.)- A state prison inmate who failed to report to his work release job in Sioux Falls earlier today is back in custody.
Inmate Robert Cadotte turned himself in to law enforcement this afternoon. He has since been returned to the South Dakota State Penitentiary.
Cadotte left Unit C, the minimum-security unit of the Jameson Annex to the South Dakota State Penitentiary, Saturday morning, to go to his work release job but never showed up at the work site.
The minimum-security units across the state house an average of more than 1,000 inmates daily. Unit C currently houses more than 270 inmates. Between 2,000 and 2,500 inmates are processed through minimum security units each year.
