RibFest starts Thursday in Sioux Falls

The 16th annual Argus Leader RibFest kicks off Thursday night in Sioux Falls. Thousands of people flock to this event every year. This year's RibFest will run Thursday May 30th from 5:00pm - 11:00pm, Friday May 31st and Saturday June 1st from 11:00am - 11:00pm, and Sunday June 2nd from 11:00am - 5:00pm. RibFest will be held at the Sioux Falls Arena's north parking lot.

You can stop by any Campbell Supply store to get a ticket for free admission to the festival on Friday May 31st from 11:00am - 4:00pm. Admission to the Argus Leader RibFest is $5 in advance at the Sioux Falls Arena box office, or at the gate. You can also buy a $10 all-weekend pass. Organizers say thanks to a sponsorship by Grand Falls Casino Resort, military members and veterans, along with their families, receive free admission all weekend long with proper ID. Sanford Children's "KidzFest" will be back with free admission for everyone all day Sunday June 2nd from 11:00am - 5:00pm. A free will offering will be accepted at the gate for Cure Kids Cancer.

All eight of last year's Rib Vendors will return this year, with Willingham's, which is now known as Just North of Memphis BBQ, defending its People's Choice crown.

There will be a lot of great music during RibFest. The Jimmy Buffet tribute band "A1A," will play Thursday night. Neal McCoy will play on Friday and the Johnny Holm Band will play on Saturday.

There will be eight world-class award winning Rib Vendors, national, regional and local concert acts, and KidzFest at RibFest on Sunday featuring giant inflatables, games and live entertainment.

There will also be the Competitive Rib Eating Contest sponsored this year by South Dakota Farm Families,and the RibFest Idol karaoke contest sponsored and organized by Borrowed Bucks Roadhouse. Additional parking is available at the McCart Park fields, located just south of the intersection of Western Avenue and Madison Street.
