SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – Augustana sophomore Jordan Milbrath was selected by the Cleveland Indians with the 1,041st pick of the 35th round of the Major League Baseball First-Year Player Draft on Saturday.

Milbrath, a right-handed pitcher from Springfield, Minn., is the second Viking to be drafted in as many years. Derek Hansen was taken in the 25th round by the Oakland Athletics last year. Milbrath is the sixth player from Augustana to be selected in the MLB Draft.

Milbrath posted a 7-2 record in 2013 for the Vikings, making a team-high 12 starts. The sophomore posted a 4.57 ERA in 67.0 innings of work while striking out a team-high 60 batters. Milbrath tossed two complete games and held opponents to a .285 batting average.

Milbrath struck out a season-high nine batters in 6.1 innings of work against Southwest Minnesota State on March 29 and struck out seven batters in a game on three occasions during the season.

Augustana College is located in Sioux Falls, S.D. and is a member of the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference.
