A northwest Minnesota baby is dead after being left in a minivan for hours. It happened last night in Moorhead.
Police say the five-month-old was left in a car seat while her father was taking care of five other children under the age of 7. Emergency crews responded to a report of an unresponsive child and found her dead at the scene. the investigation into the incident is still in its early stages. But today police are saying the death appears to be accidental. Social services was brought in to help care for the other children.
It was about 80 degrees in Moorhead yesterday evening. That means after just 30 minutes, the closed vehicle likely reached temperatures well above 100 degrees.
