Body found in Missouri River near Sioux City believed to be missing man

A body was found in the Missouri River around 1 p.m. Sunday afternoon. The identity of that body has not been confirmed, but Officers of the Nebraska Game and Parks and South Sioux City Police believe that it is that of 25-year-old Anthony Campbell, who was swept away in the river's currents early Friday morning. The body was found just upstream from the railroad bridge in South Sioux City.

Rescuers spent all day Friday and Saturday looking for Anthony Campbell of Waterbury, NE. He went missing around 3:50 Friday morning near Scenic Park Campground.

Campbell was with a female friend near the banks of the Missouri at when he decided to go into the water. That's when he was caught in a 12 mph current. The woman tried to save him, but he let go when she was nearly pulled into the water.

The search seemed to have gone cold on Saturday after search teams called off their search following just two hours on the river. Sonar, dive teams and cadaver dogs were used throughout the search.
