Golf tourney to help Sioux Falls kids get winter coats

Posted: Updated:

This weekend, we have the opportunity to hit the links while helping a lot of kids right here in the Sioux Falls area.

The 5th annual Harvest Golf Classic is being held at the Spring Creek Golf Course near Harrisburg.

The event benefits Kidz-N-Coats, an organization aimed at making sure every child in the Sioux Falls area is warm this winter.

Organizers say that when we think of kids in need, many people think about third world countries - not here in south Dakota. Tournament director Isaac Schmeling tells KSFY News, "Last year we were able to give away about 250 coats to kids who couldn't afford them. There's more of a need here than we think there is."

 The tournament is this Saturday.

If you want to participate, the fee is $75 per golfer. That entry fee includes 18 holes of golf, a cart, lunch and awards. Registration starts at 7....shotgun start is at 7:45.
