Denny Sanford PREMIER Center to add "Wow" factor through new video system
City of Sioux Falls officials held a news conference Tuesday to announce some new fan enhancements in the Denny Sanford PREMIER Center. The announcement included a comprehensive video display system to increase opportunities to view the action and also state-of-the-art lighting. More amenities and enhancements will be announced in the future.
"Fans will have a WOW experience when the new events center opens in the fall of 2014," says Mark Cotter, Director of Public Works. "Additional scoreboards and enhanced lighting really will help make each event a memorable one."
The City secured an integrated LED video display system that will be designed, manufactured, and installed by Daktronics of Brookings, South Dakota. The complete super system consists of a center-hung scoreboard that includes four main video displays, four corner shroud displays, and upper and lower ring displays; a 360-degree ribbon display along the seating bowl fascia; two end wall displays; and an exterior marquee display at the entrance of the facility.
Lighting currently used for many events centers is the more traditional incandescent lighting. However, the Denny Sanford PREMIER Center will incorporate the newest of lighting technology, LED lighting, which creates a better viewing experience. These lights also use about 60 percent less energy, which will save operating costs for the building long into the future.
Both fan enhancements were secured within the Denny Sanford PREMIER Center's current budget.
