Just hours from tip off, Thursday afternoon, for one of the biggest nights of NBA basketball.
It's also a big night for South Dakotan Mike Miller. The Mitchell native has been a standout in the series, including Tuesday's three-pointer without a shoe.
A lot of people in his hometown couldn't be happier for him.
Of the many thousands of people living in Mitchell, many know it's not everyday a star NBA player comes from the city with the Corn Palace. But 13 years ago, that was exactly the case.
Since Mike Miller was young, Score Board owner Steve Culhane has watched with excitement for what the former Mitchell Kernal would do next.
Basketball paraphernalia on the walls in the restaurant just proves loyalty to the Mitchell native. And with Game 7 just hours away, and Miller's second go at a championship ring, it's a feeling in Mitchell like nothing else.
"We've seen Mike grow up here, play here, now he's in game 7 of the finals, something that doesn't happen often. For us, in this community, to identify with that. We wish for the best and hope everything goes well," Scoreboard owner Steve Culhane said.
Catch the game tonight on KSFY, coverage begins at 7:30 p.m. and tip off is at 8:00 p.m.
