Two charged in attempt to break an inmate out of prison

Posted: Updated:

Two people are under arrest as law enforcement continues to investigate a prison break attempt at the state penitentiary.

Warden Darin Young has only been on the job for a few months.

Stopping a prison escape like this, which could have been deadly for officers, is quite a feather in his cap.

Lloyd Whiteface and Jamie Lynn Klinghagen have been charged with helping an inmate escape.

That inmate, Silver McClanahan was going to fake being sick so he could be taken to a clinic outside the prison.

Court documents state Klinghagen bought rifles and a shotgun that whiteface was going to use to shoot at officers, while they took the inmate to a doctor.

Warden Young credits his staff with stopping this escape.

"They're here, they're doing their job. They're alert, their vigilant they're steady. When it comes time to, when an incident is happening, they're response time, their actions are right on cue for the security and safety of the institution and the public safety as well," Young said.

The state is still investigating the breakout plan.

Whiteface has a court date with a judge on July 11th.
